‘Avoid the risk’ is the reason I hear most often from anyone considering using a Provocative Coaching style. Our patterns influence others patterns. If we as coaches want our clients to take risks with their learning and with change for example then we need to be prepared to do the same.

An alternative is to make the client comfortable and ensure rapport. “Let the client talk and listen” What better way to ensure that people get stuck in the stories by which they have lived their lives! In the book Radical Candor, Kim Scott gave this the brilliant label of ‘ruinous empathy’. 

I studied, accompanied and learnt from twenty years of ‘hanging around’ Frank Farrelly the source and master of Provocative Therapy.  I continue to learn from him as his influence and provocations resonate long after his death. I found my own way with this remarkable paradigm shifting approach not only to coaching but to life and this is what I can share with you in this session.
